The rest of the story. . .

Yesterday I showed you my vintage plaids in my entry. Plaid Tidings

Now, I thought I’d show you the rest.

Welcome to the great outdoors, indoors!

IMG_9025

A feather tree sets inside a rustic sleigh on top of my cabinet.  It’s tucked in amongst greenery, pinecones, berries, and a few paper bird ornaments made by my daughter, Kylee.  When I pulled my tree out I noticed that the shape was ski-wampus.  Decided I kind of liked it that way. The rustic wooden trees were a Christmas gift from my friend, Joyce years ago.  My large white lantern holds pinecones and is adorned with, (what else?) a plaid bow.

IMG_9014

I found the little red cardinals last year.  They seem to be right at home in my feather tree.

IMG_9015

Today, while digging through more totes I found this stocking.  Knew right where it belonged.

IMG_9016

My rustic sled and skis are right at hand if by chance we get more snow.

IMG_9024

I love my little children’s Lake Placid ice skates.  Found in Door County, Wisconsin.

IMG_9031

If you’re not up to sledding or skiing, how about snowshoeing?  I painted the rustic Santa ages ago.  Really, I mean ages!

IMG_9027

I added a little rustic charm on each of the three shelves. . .

IMG_9022

The lantern was an estate sale find.  I swooned when I spied the red glass. A plaid cooler and a pair of rusty metal ice skates.

IMG_9020

How fun is this old Mincemeat jar?

IMG_9021

Vintage clocks reminding us it’s Winter time sit upon a couple of old books.  I added a small garland of rusty jingle bells.  Love that red book with the blue.

IMG_9019

Snowflakes hanging from an old window frame complete the outdoorsy feel.

IMG_9026

Even if it gets cold outside.  We’ll be warm in our outdoors, indoors!

Hugs,

Jann

I love the great outdoors theme too. That green lantern is a perfect color. I also made a sheet music chain this year. LOL. I love the thermos, snowshoes, skates, etc. All a big part of our Minnesota winter.

It looks great, Jann! Just lovely. When were you in Door County? We lived there for a few years and then moved across the line to Brown County. We still own a lot up there though- xo Diana

Jann,
rusty, outdoorsy decorating is just my style also, so you know everything you've done is my favorite! When I lived in Green Bay, I got some gorgeous children's skis that are made out of maple wood at a yard sale for $7! I loved going to Door County, one of the best kept secrets of fabulous places to go.

Hi Jann!
I am just giddy with all the Christmasey goodness you have displayed. What a charming country setting. I love...love...love red plaid! I made a fleece hat for my granddaughter a few years ago out of that same red/black plaid. She was so tiny and looked so cute with it on.
I just love visiting you and your welcoming blog. I am never ever disappointed! I feel like a kid in a candy store!
Blessings, my sweet friend,

Love all these fun items as well! I was sad to leave my husbands childhood sled behind when we moved. I put it out for the trash as it was no longer in good shape but it was picked up by my neighbor 10 minutes later! Your sled picture made me nostalgic for it. Thanks for visiting...I'm your newest Linky follower! Say hello to your sister Jeanne!

Your decor is wonderful. I am sorry I have not been following as well as before, but my husband died No. 10th so it was hard.
